Mobile Legends: Bang Bang - Ruby "Fighter" Build and Strategy Guide

By:

Ruby is a Fighter hero that specializes in crowd control. This build focuses on lowering Ruby's skill CD, increasing Physical ATK and lifesteal and improving Ruby's durability. As a fighter Ruby is expected to be in the frontline of every clash assisting the tank and disabling enemies by using non-stop crowd control skills. If done properly, this build can make Ruby virtually unkillable and can go toe-to-toe against almost every hero.

Ruby's Tale

A long time ago, a brave hunter saved Little Red Riding Hood and her granny from a cunning wolf's belly and they lived happily ever after... though that was not how the real story ended. The wolf pack, harboring bitter resentment from this great shame, never forgot the scars on their bellies. One dark night when the moon was hidden, the new wolf king Haas led the pack in attacking the village, and the elderly hunter was slain in an attempt to save the granny once more. All of this happened before the eyes before the eyes of Ruby, the Little Red Riding Hood, pushing this innocent girl into madness. With a scythe, she sliced the wolf king into two halves, then peeled off his skin and swallowed his heart raw. Although happy memories of her grandma and grandpa still vividly flash before her eyes, things would never be the same again. After burying her family, Ruby started to wander the Land of Dawn, scythe in hand. She made a vow - that she would create a happy ending for every story.

Skills

Ruby possess one passive skill and three active skills. The following are the descriptions and analyses of each skills.
  • Passive - Let's Dance!: Ruby's basic attack has no lifesteal, however her skills can get 125% physical lifesteal effect from equipment. After every skill cast, Ruby can jump to another place, increasing physical and magical defense for a short period of time (effects increases with level, up to 3 times). Ruby owns 5% physical life steal herself.
Analysis: A very unique passive skill that allows Ruby to stay in the front of the fight longer. The jump effect of this skill can be easily used to dodge incoming attacks and can sow confusion to the enemies not accustomed to fighting Ruby.
  • Blink - Be Good!: Quickly slashes in a frontal direction dealing 75/95/115/135/155/175 + (+75% Total Physical ATK) Physical Damage, at the same time releases a shockwave forwards, dealing 75/95/115/135/155/175 + (75% Total Physical ATK) Physical Damage to enemies struck and reducing their movement speed for 2 seconds. This skill has a 6.0/5.6/5.2/4.8/4.4/4.0 seconds cooldown and requires 40 Mana to cast.
Analysis: Levelup this skill first, this is a great skill to harass your enemies during the early phase of the game. Use this skill whenever possible, this build is also designed so you will never run out of Mana.
  • Crowd Control + AoE - Don't Run, Wolf King!: Wields a giant scythe to attack twice. Every attack deals 40/60/80/100/120/140 + (+55% Total Physical ATK) Physical Damage, stunning the enemy towards the hero. Deals addional 30% of damage to enemies in the outer ring. This skill has a 7 seconds cooldown and requires 50/55/60/65/70/75 Mana to cast.
Analysis: This skill must be used after hooking your enemies with your ultimate. This is Ruby's main crowd control skill that will be used often during the late phase of the game.
  • Crowd Control + Burst - I'm Offended!: Uses the scythe to attack horizontally in a wide range, dealing 205/340/475 + (+180% Total Physical ATK) Physical Damage to hit enemies, pulling them to the hero's position and stunning for 0.5 seconds. This skill has a 26.0/23.0/20.0 seconds cooldown and requires 80/100/120 Mana to cast.
Analysis: Your ultimate crowd control skill that is feared by many. The key to being a good Ruby is probably perfecting the use of this skill. If you hook really good, expect admiration from your teammates. After successfully using this skill, use the Don't Run, Wolf King! skill immediately.
Emblem

Custom Fighter Emblem with Bravery, Invasion and Disabling Strike talents is preferred for this build. However, if Custom Fighter Emblem is not yet unlocked or is still low level, it is imperative that you use your highest level Emblem that can boost defense or physical damage.

Battle Spell

To complete your crowd control arsenal, Weaken or Petrify is the suggested battle spell for this build. Petrify being the best pick and Weaken second only. The choice may depend on your play style. However, keep in mind that Petrify will give your team better advantage during team fights. The Flicker battle spell is my favorite spell for Ruby, you can combine Flicker with Ruby's ultimate skill to successfully grab the enemy heroes further inside the tower's range.
  • Weaken: Reduces the target hero's movement speed by 70% and Physical and Magic Power by 50% for 3 seconds. Weaken has a 60 seconds Cooldown.
  • Petrify: Deals 115 to 325 magic damage to surrounding enemies (increases with level) and petrifies targets for 0.7 seconds. Petrify has a 90 seconds Cooldown.
  • Flicker: Teleport a certain distance in a specified direction. For 1 second after the teleport, duration of disabling effects received will be reduced by 50%. Flicker has a 100 seconds Cooldown.
Gears

  • Endless Battle: Gives +65 Physical ATK, +25 Mana Regen, +250 HP, +10% CD Reduction, +5% Movement Speed, +15% Lifesteal and the Unique Passives: Divine Justice and Chase Fate. Divine Justice makes the wielder deal an additional 85% of Physical Attack as True Damage in a physical attack after using a skill.  Chase Fate increases the hero's Movement Speed by 15% everytime Divine Justice is triggered. Endless battle costs $2,470.
  • Magic Shoes: Gives +10% CD Reduction and +40 Movement Speed. Magic Shoes costs $710.
  • Bloodlust Axe: Gives +70 Physical ATK, +10% CD Reduction and +20% Spell Vamp. Bloodlust Axe  costs $1,970.
  • Rose Gold Meteor: Gives +60 Physical ATK, +30 Magic RES, + 5% Lifesteal and the Unique Passive: Lifeline. Lifeline makes the hero gain a shield that can absorb 510-1,350 damage (increases with level) when HP is below 30%. Lifeline has a 30 seconds cooldown. Rose Gold Meteor costs $2,270.
  • Wings of the Apocalypse Queen: Gives +15 Physical ATK, +1,000 HP, +10% CD Reduction and Unique Passive: Demonize. Demonize reduces damage taken by 50% when health is less than 40% and increases your Lifesteal by 30%. Demonize lasts 5 seconds and has  50 seconds cooldown. Wings of the Apocalypse Queen costs $2,250.
  • Blade of Despair: Gives +170 Physical ATK, +5% Movement Speed and the Unique Passive: Despair. Despair makes the hero deal an extra 30% damage to an enemy hero for 2 seconds if the target hero's HP is below 50%. Blade of Despair costs $3,010.
Analysis: Craft Endless Battle and Magic Shoes first, crafting this two items in the beginning phase of the game will enable you to use your skills non-stop without worrying about mana. Next is the Bloodlust Axe and Rose Gold Meteor, if the enemy is difficult to deal with and adept at team fights, prioritize the Rose Gold Meteor over the Bloodlust Axe. Finally craft the Wings of the Apocalypse Queen and Blade of Despair. If you manage to craft this gear set, you will notice that your skills cooldown were dropped drastically. Enjoy dancing with Ruby and don't forget to purchase Rock Potions with your extra money.
Skill Rotation

Ruby can be difficult and intimidating to use, especially when you are a beginner. However, with lots of practice it is not impossible. This build is designed so that you can always use you skills non-stop. Use Be Good! to jump  forward and then use I'm Offended! to grab enemy heroes. If your grab is successful, immediately use Don't Run Wolf King! to stun the target then do a normal attack once. Use Petrify or Weaken then repeat. It is important to do a normal attack in between skills to utilize that 85% true damage from Endless Battle.

Role

Your role as a crowd controller is to assist everyone in every clash. Bottom or Top lane is your destination at the beginning. Assist your team's jungler in killing jungle monsters, but do not steal the buffs. A perfect grab is when you successfully grab all five enemy heroes and crowd controlled them.

Gameplay Tips

If you are fully geared, spend the rest of you money to buy Rock Potion to increase your defensive capability. As soon as you get your ultimate skill, try to score a kill by initiating team fights or grabbing your enemy inside the tower. Some players that use Flicker combines Ruby's ultimate with Flicker to bring the enemy hero further inside the tower's range. You can try this trick, but you will need a lot of practice. Always remember, map awareness and teamwork is the key to securing victory.
